The 8th International Conference on Super Thermal Insulation Materials (2025IFSIM) was successfully held on 15-17 May in Taicang
On May 15-17, 2025, with the support of the China Association of Thermal Insulation and Energy-saving Materials, the Insulation Materials Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society, the Taicang Science and Technology Association and the International Vacuum Insulation Board Advisory Committee, the 2025 was co-sponsored by Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Inorganic Functional Composites, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Victoria University of Canada, Hokkaido University of Japan and Jiangsu Ceramic Society, and undertaken by the School of Materials of Nanjing university of aeronautics and astronautics and the Key Laboratory of Preparation and Characterization of Materials for Harsh Environments of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology IFSIM (International Forum of Super Insulation Materials) The 8th International Conference on Super Insulation Materials and the China-Japan Vacuum Insulation Board Bilateral Conference was successfully held in Taicang. Prof. Phalguni was the Honorary Chairman. Prof. Zhaofeng Chen and Prof. Takao were Co-Chairman of the Conference.
At the opening ceremony, Vladimir Pogač, President of VIPA of the International Association of Vacuum Insulation Panels, expressed warm congratulations on the convening of the conference on behalf of the association, and looked forward to strengthening the cooperation between VIPA and China Association of Thermal Insulation and Energy-saving Materials and vacuum insulation board enterprises. He also made a report “Promoting the Innovation of High-Performance Thermal Insulation Materials: The Key Role of VIPA International”, which elaborated on the core position of VIPA in promoting the innovation of high-performance vacuum insulation panels, shared VIPA’s successful experience in technology research and development, marketing and other aspects, and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in promoting the progress of the industry.
The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Chen Zhaofeng, Han Jixian, Executive Chairman of China Thermal Insulation and Energy-saving Materials Association, Shen Xiaodong, Director of Jiangsu Advanced Inorganic Functional Composite Materials Collaborative Innovation Center, Wang Lin, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Integrated Board Branch of China Thermal Insulation and Energy-saving Materials Association, and Sun Zhenliang, Minister of Academic Department of Taicang Association for Science and Technology, delivered speeches respectively, affirming the Super Thermal Insulation Materials Organizing Committee’s insistence on the continuous holding of Taicang landmark characteristic meetings, highly praising the role of vacuum insulation panels in carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and expressing their appreciation to the experts from all parties participating in the meeting. Scholars and business representatives extended a warm welcome. Driven by the dual carbon strategy, the world actively responds to climate change and vigorously promotes energy conservation and emission reduction, and the development of super thermal insulation materials and vacuum insulation panels is very important, and this conference has built an important platform for exchanges and cooperation in related fields. It is hoped that through the in-depth discussion of the conference, technological innovation and industrial upgrading can be further promoted, and contribute to the realization of the sustainable development goals.
More than 100 participants from China, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Algeria and other countries. Experts, scholars and business representatives gathered together to discuss the cutting-edge technology in the field of vacuum insulation panels, and conducted extensive exchanges on the current situation and future trends of industrial development.
Before the conference report, a new book launch of the book “Principles of Vacuum Insulation Panel” edited by Professor Chen Zhaofeng was held, and Dr. Zhang Junxiong, the first deputy editor-in-chief, gave a lecture on the creative process, core content and significance of the book in detail. This book lasted for six years, with a total of 8 chapters and 460,000 words, comprehensively and systematically expounding the principle knowledge of vacuum insulation panels, covering multiple levels from basic theory to practical application, aiming to provide an authoritative and practical reference book for researchers, engineers and related practitioners in the industry. The atmosphere of the conference was warm, and the participants showed strong interest in this new book that embodies the efforts of many scientific researchers, and the publication of “Principles of Vacuum Insulation Panel” will play a positive role in promoting academic research and industrial development in the field of vacuum insulation panel.
Academician Phalguni, Honorary Chairman of the Conference, Professor Takao, Co-Chairman of the Conference, General Manager of Yayou London Company, and Professor Memmon of the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering of South Bank University, UK, gave speeches on “Innovative Solutions for Mitigating Balcony Thermal Bridging”, “Thermal Performance Improvement and Field Performance Test of Transparent Vacuum Insulation Panels” and “Vacuum” respectively Insulated Curtains and Wallpapers”, transparent vacuum insulation panels became the highlight of the conference.
According to the usual practice, the 2025 IFSIM Organizing Committee awarded Professor Shen Xiaodong of Nanjing University of Technology and Professor Takao of Hokkaido University the Lifetime Achievement Award for Super Thermal Insulation Materials Research through joint nomination and selection by the International Presidium, in recognition of their continuous outstanding contributions and outstanding achievements in this field over the years.
Professor Chen Zhaofeng of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics presided over the kick-off meeting of “Vacuum Insulation Composite Board for Interior Decoration” and made a report, Professor Yang Lixia of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics presided over the “Vacuum Insulation Board for Cold Storage” standard kick-off meeting and made a report, and Wang Lin presided over the “Technical Regulations for Vacuum Insulation and Decorative Integrated Panel Exterior Wall Insulation Engineering” standard kick-off meeting and made a report. Many industry experts and scholars actively discussed and expressed their opinions, and carried out warm exchanges on the formulation direction of various standards and key technical indicators. Combining their rich practical experience and cutting-edge research results, they made suggestions and suggestions for the accuracy, scientificity and practicability of the standard. The atmosphere of the meeting was warm, and the sparks of thinking continued to collide, aiming to make these group standards effectively reflect the needs of the industry through joint efforts, standardize and lead the high-quality development of related products in the fields of interior decoration, cold storage application and exterior wall insulation, and promote the super insulation material industry to move towards a more standardized and standardized direction.
