The Situation

The German Enterprise Centre Qingdao is an organization supported by the German government providing investment services for overseas German companies. It provides German small and medium-sized enterprises with services such as market consultation, product exhibition, office space, business meetings, accommodations, leisure, entertainment, catering, etc., so that it become a service platform to promote German companies in China. The building in Qingdao is the third one in China after the ones in Beijing and Shanghai. The total investment of the project is 677 million CNY and the total construction area is 75,000 square meters. It was completed in December 2015.

From the start, the project was associated with high energy-saving requirements. According to the requirements, the external wall insulation system was applied using a polymer-modified adhesive mortar pasted 30 mm VIP with 10 mm dry mix external insulation mortar (alkali-resistant glass fiber mesh cloth was pressed in the middle) as overcoat protection. The decorative layer structure is 5 mm ceramic tile pasted by dry mix tile adhesive mortar with ceramic tile caulking agent.

The Result

After completion, the project proved to have fully met the requirements with excellent insulation performance. In July 2014, the project was pre-certificated for the ‘Gold Award’ by DGNB (Sustainable Building Association) in Germany. It is the world’s largest pre-certification project for the DGNB ‘Gold Award’, and is also the first DGNB pre-certification ‘Gold Award’ under construction in Asia. In April 2015, the “Three-Star Green Building Design Certificate” was issued by the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development for the project and it has become the first double-certified project to receive both the national green building ‘Three-Star’ certificate and the ‘Gold Award’ by DGNB.
